It is no secret now, we are headed to support relief efforts off the coast of Burma. People here are really looking forward to pitching in and helping the people of Burma. The reports we are seeing are pretty grim. Over 100,000 human beings perished in the first few days and just as many are threatened by disease. The short term effects are evident, but what has the potential to affect the people of Burma for months to come is the distruction of their most productive agricultural land, consitered to be the bread basket of Burma.
It is wonderful that I get to help feed the hungry, cloth the naked, and treat the sick. Not really beating swords into plow shares, but a fine example of the humanitarian and disaster relief we can employ.
